The main character Em just grabbed my attention by the first page and I couldn’t help but keep reading. She sounded like a person who was really depressed.

Em’s father would come home drunk and beat all three Pamela, Em, and their mother. When their mother dies, Em and Pamela are left destroyed. Pamela also dies at a young age. Now all thats left is Em. She has nobody but herself.

Will Em give up on herself or will she stand up high and keep it going? Read the book to find out…(Scholastic, 2000)

Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli

by Kindia

A very creative strange girl was born into the world and her name was… Stargirl.

She changes her name to whatever she wants it to be or feels like it, one of her other names was
Mudpie. My teacher read this to us in 6th grade. Stargirl goes to school and what goes on in school is love, emotion, and hatred. But she doesn’t care, she doesn’t care what people think or say about her.
